River Conditions & Fishing Info.

Updated 5/18/21:

While there is still water in the Gualala River for you to enjoy, the river is low. We suggest you bring your kayaks, paddleboards & floaties- but you expect to get out and drag in a few spots along the river. On 4/21/21 Governor Newsom declared a drought emergency in Mendocino County.

Fishing:

The Gualala River has a healthy steelhead trout run. Steelhead are present from late December – April. Steelhead fishing on the Gualala River is catch and release with barbless hooks. Anglers 16 and older must have a valid fishing license. Through the months of May-November, we highly discourage fishing in the Gualala River due to drought and absence of adult fish. Ocean fishing is recommended on nearby bluffs. There is also a public pier in Point Arena, 15 miles north of Gualala River Redwood Park.
